Deleting your account and data
The quickest way: inside the app
Menu → Profile → Account settings → the Danger zone section at the bottom → Delete account.
Deletion is IMMEDIATE and IRREVERSIBLE. There is no cooling-off period and it cannot be cancelled, not even through support — once you confirm, the account and the server-side data are gone and the email address is freed for a new registration.
Do not have the app installed?
Write from your account's email address to [email protected] with "Delete account" in the subject. You do not need to prove anything else — we verify the address ourselves.
We will handle it within 30 days at the latest, as the GDPR requires; in practice it is usually a few working days. We confirm by replying to the same email.
What is deleted
The account and sign-in, the email address, nickname and profile photo. The logbook and sailed tracks backed up to the server, boat profiles, crew, the route library and mirrored settings. Presence sharing and live position links. All signed-in devices.
What stays, and why
What you contributed to the community — place photos, anchorage reviews, hazard reports and community edits — stays, but without your name. These are facts about places that other sailors rely on; deleting them along with the account would harm people who depend on them. Authorship is detached, so nobody can trace them back to you.
A copy may survive in backups until the rotation overwrites it — at most 168 days. Backups serve disaster recovery only. The sets on our server are not encrypted — access control protects them; the copy shipped off-site is encrypted.
An email you may have sent to support sits in a mailbox that our automatic retention does not reach. If you want that gone too, say so in the request.
What lives only on your phone
Boat documents and the photo album are never sent to the server. Deleting the account therefore does not touch them — they go away when you uninstall the app or clear its data in the phone settings.
